I could not have picked a better band to cover in this first post.
First things first, Gallagher Way was not what I expected. I knew nothing of the venue except that it was attached to Wrigley Field. The venue is on Clark Street in the park between Waveland and Addison directly adjacent to the historic ball park.
Opening for MisterWives was Annie DiRusso with her band. I'll be covering her more in a later post.
Shortly after it got dark, MisterWives came on. The lead singer(Mandy Lee) never seemed to slow down through the whole set, just amazing on stage energy. As a Chicagoland native and a Cubs fan, I was pleasantly surprised to see her come out in a custom cubs jersey with "MISTERWIVES" across the back.
The tour was part of the release for their new album titled "Nosebleeds." An absolutely phenomenal record, personal favorites include the title track "Nosebleeds" and "Sideways"
They rounded out the set playing "Superbloom" which is one of their most popular songs with an uplifting melody and message about coming through the hard times in your life and bloom into what you're meant to be.
Photos from the show are in the Live Music Gallery. Full gallery pages are coming soon.
MisterWives will be back in Chicago on October 28th at Thalia Hall.
